Assistant Buyer
Location: Hillington
Job Type: Permanent, Full-Time

Contract Scotland is working in partnership with a well-established client in the construction sector to recruit an Assistant Buyer for their team based in Hillington.

This is a great opportunity for someone with procurement experience in construction who is looking to develop their career within a fast-paced and supportive environment.

Daily Duties:

  • Assist in sourcing and procuring materials, including metal sheeting, fixings, insulation, membranes, and ancillary roofing and cladding products

  • Raise and process purchase orders in accordance with project requirements and company procedures

  • Liaise with suppliers to secure quotations, confirm deliveries, and resolve any delivery-related issues

  • Monitor inventory levels and assist with stock control activities

  • Maintain accurate procurement records, databases, and pricing information

  • Develop strong working relationships with suppliers and internal teams

  • Support cost analysis and benchmarking activities to ensure best value

  • Track supplier performance and highlight any concerns affecting the supply chain

  • Work closely with project managers, estimators, and site teams to align purchasing with site requirements

  • Support negotiations on pricing, lead times, and terms under the guidance of senior procurement staff

Skills and Experience:

  • Previous experience in a procurement, purchasing, or buying role, ideally within construction

  • Strong communication and negotiation skills

  • Good understanding of construction materials and supply chain processes

  • Experience with procurement or ERP systems is desirable
