Assistant Buyer
Location: Hillington
Job Type: Permanent, Full-Time
Contract Scotland is working in partnership with a well-established client in the construction sector to recruit an Assistant Buyer for their team based in Hillington.
This is a great opportunity for someone with procurement experience in construction who is looking to develop their career within a fast-paced and supportive environment.
Daily Duties:

Assist in sourcing and procuring materials, including metal sheeting, fixings, insulation, membranes, and ancillary roofing and cladding products

Raise and process purchase orders in accordance with project requirements and company procedures

Liaise with suppliers to secure quotations, confirm deliveries, and resolve any delivery-related issues

Monitor inventory levels and assist with stock control activities

Maintain accurate procurement records, databases, and pricing information

Develop strong working relationships with suppliers and internal teams

Support cost analysis and benchmarking activities to ensure best value

Track supplier performance and highlight any concerns affecting the supply chain

Work closely with project managers, estimators, and site teams to align purchasing with site requirements

Support negotiations on pricing, lead times, and terms under the guidance of senior procurement staff
Skills and Experience:

Previous experience in a procurement, purchasing, or buying role, ideally within construction

Strong communication and negotiation skills

Good understanding of construction materials and supply chain processes

Experience with procurement or ERP systems is desirable
