S kanska Building has a strong reputation for delivering some of the most iconic buildings in London, along with critical healthcare and education solutions throughout Southern England and the Midlands.

We are looking for an experienced Chief Estimator to oversee and manage the Estimating function for the Building Operating Unit, maintaining our strong, profitable position in our chosen markets. This is a key role where you will interface with the Operating Unit leadership team and the Business Unit Executive team, providing trusted insight and guidance in market conditions and risk analysis. Day to day you will oversee and manage the estimating team in the preparation of tender estimates and cost plans and manage their development to ensure the department ready for the future of digital productivity.

You Will:

  • Manage our estimating resources for current and future bids.
  • In conjunction with the Bid Team and procurement ensure a workable Profit Improvement Plan is in place.
  • In conjunction with the Bid Team ensure a fully considered risk and opportunity schedule is in place.
  • In conjunction with the Bid Team peer review all financial aspects of the bid for presentation at Operations Director review, Managing Director review and EVP/BUP review.
  • Ensure consistency for all tenders and ensure that they have been well considered in respect of being value engineered and offer best value across all tenders.
  • Lead the estimating team in giving cost input into alternative methods and specifications, value engineering, temporary works and programme options.
  • Produce monthly and tender specific inflation forecasts
  • Maintain accurate benchmarking data for tenders
  • Undertake and assist the pricing of Cost Plans and Estimates as workload and holidays dictate.

We're looking for:
  • A strong leader who can manage, grow and develop our estimating function with;
  • Wide range of multi sector tendering experience.
  • Advanced knowledge of estimation software
  • Full understanding of JCT and NEC forms of contract.
  • Knowledge and understanding of BIM and digital productivity
  • Clear understanding of scope and contractual requirements
  • Ability to develop bid winning commercial strategies to deliver company outcomes.
