JOB DESCRIPTION
Job Title : Commercial Cost Estimator
Location : Belfast
Responsible to : Plant Manager
Job Purpose :
Is to determine the costs associated with packaging RFQ's & tenders for the self-adhesive label industry, ensuring projects are financially viable and competitive. This will involve cost estimating, post costing, commercial analysis and calculating both contribution and throughput margins using various tools. They will play a crucial role in bidding for new contracts and monitoring project costs to stay within budget.
Roles and Responsibilities:
Cost Estimation:
Accurately estimating the cost of labour, materials, equipment, and other resources for commercial packaging projects.
Risk Assessment:
Identifying and evaluating potential risks associated with a project and incorporating them into the cost estimate.
Bidding and Tendering:
Preparing detailed cost proposals and bids for new projects.
Budget Management:
Monitoring project costs during production to ensure they align with the initial estimates.
Collaboration:
Working with all stakeholders to gather information and ensure accurate cost estimations.
Material Procurement:
Assisting in the procurement of materials by providing cost information and specifications.
Value Engineering:
Identifying opportunities to optimise costs without compromising the quality or functionality of the project.
Person Specification - Commercial Cost Estimator
ESSENTIAL CRITERIA (demonstrate on application form)
1 3rd level education within a relevant field or relevant experience
2 Knowledge of the packaging industry standards
3 Proficiency in calculations, cost analysis and financial modelling. A good working knowledge of Microsoft Excel and manipulating data is essential.
4 Ability to effectively communicate with various stakeholders
5 Ability to identify and resolve cost-related issues during the project lifecycle
DESIRABLE CRITERIA (demonstrate on application form)
1 A background in Microsoft Power BI
2 Proven track record within the industry
SPECIALIST KNOWLEDGE
(tested at interview)
Flexible approach to working hours
Excellent oral and written communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to work with minimum supervision on own initiative and as part of a team.
Highly analytical and results drive with good attention to detail.
Training Provision
_Background and principal modules of the current MRP System used throughout the business_
_Operations training in the current processes, equipment & raw materials to acquire and understand setup/run/waste and costing parameters_
_Key requirements of the site Quality process, customer expectation and standards required for the Pharmaceutical, Clinical, Agrochemical and Food markets, based on product categories._
