Dewey Group are currently representing a National Ground-Engineering business who are currently lookign for a Design Estimating Engineer for their South Central Region.
This is a key role within the South Central regional team, contributing to a broad range of ground engineering projects. The position offers a diverse workload across design, estimating, and technical sales for piling, foundations, and ground improvement solutions. The successful candidate will support both tender and contract design stages, ensuring work aligns with internal systems and strategic business objectives.
Key Responsibilities:

Provide technical designs for bearing piles, tension piles, laterally loaded piles, and retaining walls.

Manage incoming project enquiries, assessing opportunities and allocating tenders/designs.

Deliver design solutions for tendering and live contract stages, including redesigns for site variations.

Undertake full estimating and bid preparation, from concept through to client submission.

Participate in technical sales activities, contributing to business growth by supporting negotiations and client relationships.

Mentor junior team members, supporting training and professional development.

Collaborate with operational teams to address site issues, liaise with third-party engineers, and resolve design-related challenges.

Remain actively involved throughout the project lifecycle when required, ensuring continuity and technical support.
Candidate Requirements:

A degree in Civil Engineering, Engineering Geology, or a similar discipline (MSc and Chartered status desirable).

Strong background in geotechnical design and a sound understanding of piling systems such as CFA, CHD, Tubular Steel, and Precast Driven methods.

Ability to produce accurate and competitive tenders.

Confident working both independently and as part of a team, with the ability to manage workload autonomously depending on experience.

A proactive, problem-solving mindset with strong communication and client-facing skills.

Prepare formal design submissions and maintain responsibility for post-contract design changes.

Participate in pre-tender meetings, site visits, and handovers to operational teams.

Contribute to ongoing improvement of internal procedures, technical capabilities, and market competitiveness.
