About the Opportunity:

We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Lead Estimator to work as part of the Operations team at the Humber Facility across a number of Frameworks and Projects around the country. Working within our Field Solutions business you'll be part of a large construction focused workforce tendering for and delivering complex and challenging construction projects across Clean Energy, Utilities and Infrastructure projects, from inception to final delivery and client handover Jacobs Field Solutions offer a fantastic opportunity to engage with all life cycle phases of a project.
The successful candidate will lead the development of multidiscipline construction estimates for the tendering of various projects within our field solutions line of business. Recognizing the intended delivery strategy and pricing of self-delivery works or subcontract packages this role requires a varied range of estimating skills and techniques.

The role will push you to the forefront of estimating within our National Operations Field Solutions business area, reporting into the head of estimating directly for the development of multi-disciplined construction estimates, working closely with the line of business director and capture managers for the given tenders. The key focus of this role is to bring structure and continuity to the estimating and tendering process in this region, using pre-developed estimating procedures and tools from across the wider field solutions business this opportunity presents fantastic development and growth opportunities.

The successful candidates will become part of a respected and ambitious team working from our Humber Facility, within Field Solutions, to support the growth and sustainability of the performance unit moving forward. Jacobs Field Solutions are offering a truly fantastic opportunity which will allow the successful individuals to be involved across multiple client sectors around the UK supporting this critical principal engineering role.

Key Responsibilities include:
  • Prepare, compile and co-ordinate the development of the estimate, ensuring all required estimating documentation is completed and issued to the capture manager in line with the bid schedule;
  • Read and interpret ITT documentation in full, raise any TQ's or RFI's where information is believed to be missing or unclear;
  • Participate in tender analysis and risk reviews, determine or develop personnel rate cards for review by senior management;
  • Prepare/coordinate discipline by discipline quantity take-offs (Mechanical, E&I, Civils, Structural, Building Works) involving where applicable the preparation of RFQ packages from drawings and specifications;
  • Work with subcontractors and suppliers to prepare and distribute subcontractor & materials RFQ packages for work within project scope but not performed internally, including defining the scope of work, providing drawings, specifications and required documentation;
  • Ensure that the governance process is followed and the accurate submission of documentation for tender approval, this includes organizing and attending Tender Approval meetings with Senior Management;
  • Liaise with Planning and Delivery teams to ensure that the estimate ties into both schedule and project delivery plan;
  • When required able to supervise other Estimators as part of the Bid Team and ensure bid progression.


Here's What You'll Need:

  • Proficient skills in the area of current technology (Word, Excel, estimating/database software's);
  • Demonstrated understanding of estimating organizational structure and process, including quantity take off, crew development, productivity relationships, material quotations, knowledge of markup structures and estimate documentation;
  • Be familiar with techniques, procedures, methods and the nature of applicable construction systems across the mechanical and piping disciplines;
  • Contract implementation. Experienced in the production of fixed price, target cost and reimbursable estimates;
  • Knowledge of the legislative, regulatory, quality and environmental requirements relating to engineering projects;
  • Able to travel to meet project needs;
  • Strong and effective written, oral and presentation skills;
  • Experience of developing tenders from design models and conceptual discussions.
