The Role: Quantity Surveyor / Estimator

You will join a successful estimating and pre-construction team, working on refurbishment and fit-out schemes up to £4m. This dual role blends estimating responsibilities with cost management, ensuring projects are accurately priced, commercially controlled, and delivered within budget and programme.

Key Responsibilities

• Conducting site surveys and scoping, including detailed scope price build-ups
• Preparing accurate cost estimates and undertaking cost analysis
• Managing budgets, valuations, and cost reporting throughout the project lifecycle
• Working collaboratively with engineers, architects, subcontractors, and clients
• Assessing cost effectiveness and identifying commercial risks
• Supporting PQQ, ITT, and ITN submissions
• Managing subcontract enquiries, comparisons, and procurement
• Adjusting estimates and budgets in line with project changes
• Maintaining accurate records of estimated and actual costs
• Liaising with multiple clients and supporting departmental coordination
• Producing pre-construction deliverables and ensuring quality standards are met
• Sharing best practice and contributing to continuous improvement
• Ensuring timely turnaround of quotations and meeting SLAs
• Supporting departmental growth through innovative ideas and approaches

The Ideal Candidate

You will be an experienced construction professional with a strong background in both estimating and quantity surveying. You should bring:

• Proven experience in fast-paced construction, refurbishment, or fit-out environments
• Strong multi-trade estimating knowledge
• Ability to read and interpret drawings, specifications, and technical documents
• Excellent IT skills and confidence with estimating/QS software
• Strong communication, negotiation, and problem-solving abilities
• A proactive, diligent, and reliable approach
• Ability to manage multiple deadlines and work efficiently under pressure
