The Role: Quantity Surveyor / EstimatorYou will join a successful estimating and pre-construction team, working on refurbishment and fit-out schemes up to £4m. This dual role blends estimating responsibilities with cost management, ensuring projects are accurately priced, commercially controlled, and delivered within budget and programme.
Key Responsibilities- Conducting site surveys and scoping, including detailed scope price build-ups
- Preparing accurate cost estimates and undertaking cost analysis
- Managing budgets, valuations, and cost reporting throughout the project lifecycle
- Working collaboratively with engineers, architects, subcontractors, and clients
- Assessing cost effectiveness and identifying commercial risks
- Supporting PQQ, ITT, and ITN submissions
- Managing subcontract enquiries, comparisons, and procurement
- Adjusting estimates and budgets in line with project changes
- Maintaining accurate records of estimated and actual costs
- Liaising with multiple clients and supporting departmental coordination
- Producing pre-construction deliverables and ensuring quality standards are met
- Sharing best practice and contributing to continuous improvement
- Ensuring timely turnaround of quotations and meeting SLAs
- Supporting departmental growth through innovative ideas and approaches
You will be an experienced construction professional with a strong background in both estimating and quantity surveying. You should bring:
- Proven experience in fast-paced construction, refurbishment, or fit-out environments
- Strong multi-trade estimating knowledge
- Ability to read and interpret drawings, specifications, and technical documents
- Excellent IT skills and confidence with estimating/QS software
- Strong communication, negotiation, and problem-solving abilities
- A proactive, diligent, and reliable approach
- Ability to manage multiple deadlines and work efficiently under pressure
