An excellent opportunity has arisen for an experienced Estimator to support a major Highways Maintenance contract in Oxfordshire. This role sits within a well-established commercial team delivering essential highway maintenance and improvement works for a local authority client.
This is a fast-paced role suited to a commercially astute individual with strong highways and NEC contract experience.
The Role
You will provide commercial and estimating support to the pre-construction and commercial team, with a specific focus on the development of Star Rates not included within the existing Schedule of Rates.
Key responsibilities include:

Developing, pricing and preparing approximately 400 Star Rates for review and submission

Supporting the commercial team in the identification and development of Star Rates

Liaising with internal commercial and operational stakeholders to gather technical and cost information

Engaging with and negotiating rates with relevant subcontractors and suppliers

Ensuring all submissions comply with contractual, procedural and governance requirements

Maintaining compliance with internal commercial standards and processes
About You
To be considered, you should have:

A degree in Quantity Surveying or a related construction discipline

Strong commercial experience within highways maintenance or civil engineering
-
Previous experience operating as an Estimator, Quantity Surveyor or Senior Quantity Surveyor

Good working knowledge of NEC3/NEC4 contracts

Experience using Highways Method of Measurement (HMM) and Schedules of Rates

Strong negotiation, communication and organisational skills

Proficiency in MS Excel and Microsoft Office
