Job Title: Estimator - SpecialiSing in Hard Metal Roofing & Cladding
Location: Waltham Abbey
Salary: 40,000 - 55,000 (Dependent on Experience)
Company Overview:
Our client is a leading expert in fully supported hard metal roofing, facades, cladding systems, and flat roofing solutions across various projects. With a focus on collaborating with major UK manufacturers and utilizing cutting-edge systems, such as inverted hotmelt, built-up-felt warm roofs, single-ply, and cold-applied liquid plastics, they are actively seeking an experienced Quantity Surveyor to join their expanding team.
Primary Responsibilities:
As an integral part of our team, your daily tasks will vary based on project requirements and may include:
- Collaborating with the surveying team and organizing AFPs (Agreed Final Payments).
- Conducting cost reporting and providing accurate reconciliations and forecasts regularly.
- Tracking monthly application figures and communicating potential budget constraints to relevant departments.
- Reviewing labor schedules and comparing progress on-site.
- Maintaining chronological records of site progress for submission in payment applications.
- Pricing variations and changes in line with subcontract parameters.
- Reviewing construction drawings, noting any changes, and comparing them to tender drawings.
- Developing positive relationships with clients, client representatives, and the supply chain.
- Conducting site visits (approximately 2 days a week) to record progress and address changes to the contract scope.
- Managing multiple sub-contracts and contractors.
- Demonstrating a comprehensive understanding of various construction sub-contracts, primarily NEC (e.g., JCT Design and Build, NEC3).
- Compiling sub-subcontract orders, including procurement documentation.
- Timely submission of contractual requirements to optimize profit and cash flow.
- Identifying risks and providing recommendations for overcoming them.
- Maintaining awareness of contractual matters to protect the company's position.
Requirements:
To excel in this role, you should have:
- Relevant qualifications in Quantity Surveying or Construction Management (degree level or equivalent with a 2:1 or above).
- Full driving license (CSCS card is desirable but not mandatory).
- Strong knowledge of construction principles.
- Proficiency in IT skills, particularly Microsoft Excel and Word.
- Self-motivation, attention to detail, and organizational skills.
- The ability to work effectively in a team or independently.
- Excellent communication skills.
